RULES

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
RINK
RESERVATION
When booking a rink you are
reserving a space on the green and committing yourself to the fees, as laid down
by the Management Committee.
You are not allowed to book
more than 2 weeks in advance for casual play.
CANCELLATION
If a rink is NOT required,
then that rink must be cancelled.
In league and competition
play it must be cancelled by the home team captain or the home player and in
casual play by the person who made the booking.
In the event of
non-cancellation the whole fee for a rink of 8 players is payable.
RINK
FEES
The fees are required to be
available to the steward or appointed person before play begins.
The skips are responsible
for collection of fees from their own team and the home skip is responsible for
any shortfall of the total rink fees.
The steward or appointed
person has the authority to suspend play on any rink where the full rink fees
have not been paid.
PREFERENTIAL
PLAY
Only National
Competitions have preference. Club Competitions have NO preference.
Any rink changes can only be
made with full discussion and agreement of the appointed Club
Co-ordinator. Any teams or
person involved must be advised with as much notice as possible.
DRESS
ON THE GREEN
For all play except in matches and latter stages of
competitions, the dress will be white above the waist and grey below.
Only white, brown or grey regulation bowling shoes may be
worn.
Guests of members are expected to comply with these dress
standards.
RULES FOR COMPETITIONS
The Club will organise competitions annually.
Competition entry forms will be available from the
office. The closing date and entry fee to be determined each year by the
Competitions Committee.
All competitions up to the semi final stages will be
of 16 ends or 2 hours, whichever is the lesser, with the exception of singles
which will be 21 shots up. The semi finals and finals will be played as a full
game, i.e. 18 or 21 ends as applicable, and will be played in white below the
waist, white or coloured shirts.
Green fees will be paid for all stages except the
final.
Markers will be allocated for the semi finals and
finals of all singles competitions.
All matches will be allocated a rink and matches
should be played on the date shown on the competition sheet or arranged earlier
by mutual consent. Matches may not be arranged after the allocated date unless a
match has been cancelled due to inclement weather, or with the consent of the
Competitions Committee. Failure to play on or by the date will result in the
offending team being scratched from the competition.
If a competition is rearranged please ensure that the
original allocated rink is cancelled.
All trophies to be returned by 1st
February of the following year.
Substitutes are allowed subject to Rule 3.

ELEGIBILITY
All players must be paid up members of Wellingborough
Bowling Club indoor section
The prescribed entrance fee shall be payable on
entry.
3.
SUBSTITUTES
A substitute may play in any position except skip.
In mixed competitions the substitute must be of the
same sex.
One and the same substitute is allowed in all
competitions, except singles.
Only a
member who has not entered the competition is eligible to act as a substitute.
(For clarification, once a person has entered a competition they may not act as
substitute even if, for any reason, they do not play in that competition.)
4.
ORDER OF PLAY
No trial ends will played except in the semi finals
and finals.
All
competitions will commence after the starter bell, toss for the jack and will
end after the finish bell, or the prescribed number of ends, whichever is
sooner. Once the finish bell has sounded no more ends may be played, except that
in the event of a tie, an extra end will be played.
The winner of the end may not give the mat and jack
to their opponent, except in the Club Championship Singles where the competition
will be run under current EIBA/EWIBA rules. All singles matches shall be the
first to 21 shots, if over 2 hours, consideration must be given by anyone
waiting to play on the rink.
Where a jack has been delivered so that it comes to rest
outside the boundaries of the rink or less than 23 metres from the front of the
mat and the finishing bell sounds before it has been redelivered by the opposing
lead, the jack will be placed on the 2 metre mark and the position of the mat
will be determined by the opposing skip. In no circumstances shall it be
permissible for the jack to be delivered after the finishing bell.
If in
the course of play the jack is driven out of bounds, the end shall be played in
the opposite direction; the end shall not count and no penalty shall be imposed.
No 3’s in
fours, and No 2’s in triples shall play up with the skips.
No player may remain at the head whilst the opposing
player plays their first bowl. No player may visit the head, except in the semi
finals and finals.
In the semi finals and finals it is permissible for a player
to visit the head between bowls.
5.
TEAM KNOCKOUT
The team knockout will be played under normal league
rules.
All teams registered in the Early and late mid-week
leagues will be entered into the knockout. There will be no entrance fee.
All rounds must be played on the set date or arranged
earlier by mutual consent. Matches may not be arranged after the allocated date
unless a match has been cancelled due to inclement weather, or with the consent
of the Competitions Committee. Failure to play on or by the date will result in
the offending team being scratched from the competition.

Each team will be allocated a handicap in accordance
with their league. This handicap will be set by the Competitions Committee.
6.
LATE START
If a team is not present on
the rink 10 minutes after the prescribed starting time, it shall be in default
and the game conceded.
7.
DISPUTES
Subject
to these rules it is intended that matches shall be played in accordance with
the Laws
of the Game as adopted by the EIBA/EIWBA.
Any
disputes or queries shall be referred as soon as possible to the Competitions
Committee or the
Indoor Committee, whose decision will be final.
