There is a dress code adopted by Wellingborough Bowling Club in compliance with national recommendations. This is to ensure that the traditions of bowling as a team are not lost. However many modern innovations have been made to the dress expected during games. Here are the general requirements:
Clubwear Newsletter End 2009 You will be aware that there was a survey to find out your views on three questions regarding dress code and CLUBWEAR. There were 218 replies to the questionnaire. 72% of members said YES to the adoption of the club coloured shirts when representing WBC. 68% were against the relaxation of the white/grey dress code for casual play. Your committee has decided to streamline and unify the range of items on offer as CLUBWEAR for all members. We have also taken the opportunity to use a new supplier. This project will be handled by Diane Allen and all orders should be placed through her. The items available are: CLUB SHIRT Price £18.50 each CLUB FLEECE & WATERPROOF Price £38.00 for both (or £23.00 each sold separately incl. badge) CLUB ZIPPER JACKET Price £30.00 each There will of course still be available Club Ties at £5.50 each, Club Blazer Badges at £5.00 each and White Men's shirts with the WBC badge at £18.50 each. Current coloured club shirts can, of course, be used until worn out and new stock of these shirts will not be purchased until old stock is used up. Indications are, from the survey and through debate at the club, that the use of a Club Shirt and Club Zipper could be an alternative to the use of blazer, shirt and tie. Uniformity is important but not as important as Club members wearing what they are happy with when they play bowls. We urge you to adopt the Club Shirt but this is not mandatory. County/National competition rules, of course, require that teams all wear the same strip during play.
